South Texas Juvenile Diabetes Association (STJDA) is one of Knapp Community Care Foundation’s key partners and has done some amazing work in the Mid-Valley related to juvenile diabetes. One of the their strongest abilities is collaborating with local partners to strengthen their reach and capacity. Through collaboration, STJDA was able to bring a specialized clinic, a local food pantry and a community garden to the Mid-Valley. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic STJDA and their volunteers and have managed to accomplish the following:
- Pounds of food collected or distributed: 3,150 pounds
- Other supplies collected or distributed (examples include PPE, medical equipment, medications, other non-food donations): 20 families with medical supplies (pump supplies, insulin, alcohol wipes, test strips and glucagon)
- Number of unitized meals served to date: 3,160
- Number of Estimated people assisted to date: 84 families and 3,150 meals tochildren
