Welcome, New Board Members

Knapp Community Care Foundation adds three new members to our Board of Directors leadership. Pictured below, from left to right, are Jennifer Sander, Ramon Montalvo, and Dr. Daniel Lozano.



Jennifer Sander currently serves on the Grant and Community Development Committee and Governance Committee. She was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and then attended the University of Texas Austin, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was a nurse in the Pediatric ICU at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston until moving to Iowa City in 2000.  She then practiced at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She continued her education in 2018 at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, earning a Master of Business Administration. For the last 18 years, Jennifer has served as a community volunteer. She has served in various roles for the Boy Scouts of America and as a Board member for the Museum of South Texas History. Jennifer and her husband, Michael, currently reside in Weslaco, Texas, with their four children.


Ramon Montalvo is rejoining the Board of Directors after serving as a founding member. He currently serves on the Governance Committee and Finance & Investment Committee. Mr. Montalvo graduated from the University of Texas Austin. He is the President and Owner of Montalvo Insurance Agency, Inc. in Weslaco, Texas. He has served as president of many organizations, including the Weslaco ISD Board, Girl Scouts of America Local Council, Weslaco Chamber of Commerce, Weslaco Rotary Club, and Tropical Texas Behavioral Health. In 2011, Mr. Montalvo received the SBA Business of the Year.  He has also received a Five Outstanding Young Texans Award, Weslaco Chamber Man of the Year, Notable Hispanic of the Valley Award, Weslaco Outstanding Citizen, and Weslaco Chamber Business of the Year for 2012.


Daniel Lozano, M.D., serves on the Grant and Community Development Committee. He grew up in Weslaco, Texas, and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He continued his education at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, where he completed his adult psychiatric residency, gaining extensive clinical experience through the Bexar County University Hospital System, the Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA Hospital System, and the Brooke Army Medical Center. Dr. Lozano was elected and served as the Chief Psychiatric Resident of University Hospital during his senior year of residency. Dr. Lozano is the sole owner and operator of RGV Psychiatry, a private psychiatric practice in Weslaco. He resides with his family in McAllen, Texas.
